PN G 218 . 9 - 10 . 7 : a galactic emission nebula of unique morphology ?
نویسنده
چکیده
We present an Hα + [N II] narrow band image and optical spectra of the galactic nebula PN G218.9-10.7 that has been hardly studied up to now and is suspected to be a planetary nebula. Its morphology is quite unusual: the nebula appears to consist of both symmetric components and asymmetric diffuse ones, and also displays long straight filaments in the east. It rather looks like a combination of morphological features found in HII regions, supernova remnants and planetary nebulae. The nebula has very low [O III] emission, and is close to a very blue faint star that has been supposed to be of high gravity nature. Detailed description and attempt to give an interpretation of the morphology for this nebula are discussed. The spectral results of the object have been derived, such as the interstellar extinction, excitation class, electron temperature, and electron density.

We present high resolution HST imaging of the nebula associated with the galactic LBV candidate HD 168625, together with ISO imaging and AAT echelle spectroscopy. The overall nebular morphology is elliptical with the major axis at PA ≃ 120 deg. The dimensions of the nebula are 12 ′′ x 16 ′′ .7 at H α and 15 ′′ .5 x 23 ′′ .5 at 4 µm. In the HST Hα image, the nebula is resolved into a complex str...
متن کاملTwo Pulsar Wind Nebulae: Chandra/xmm-newton Imaging of Gev J1417−6100
We report on Chandra ACIS and XMM-Newton MOS/PN imaging observations of two pulsar wind nebulae (K3/PSR J1420−6048 and G313.3+0.1=‘the rabbit’) associated with the Galactic unidentified γ-ray source GeV J1417−6100. With the excellent ACIS imaging the very energetic pulsar PSR J1420−6048 is separated from its surrounding nebula. This nebula has surprisingly little compact structure, although a f...
متن کاملOn the discovery of an enormous ionized halo around the hot DO white dwarf PG 1034 + 001
Very recently, the discovery of the largest known planetary nebula on the sky surrounding the DO white dwarf PG 1034+001 with an apparent diameter of about 2 • , corresponding to a linear diameter of 3.5-7.0 pc at the likely distance of 100-200 pc, has been reported by Hewett et al. (2003). A careful inspection of available sky survey data has now shown that this planetary nebula, Hewett 1, is ...
متن کاملRevealing the Nature of Asymmetric Planetary Nebulae through Abundance Analysis
The correlations between planetary nebula (PN) morphology and the nature of their progenitors are explored by examining homogeneous PN samples in the Galaxy and the Magellanic Clouds. We selected PNe with reliable abundances from spectral analysis, and whose morphology is known, and compared the abundances of the element at variance with stellar evolution with the final yields of Asymptotic Gia...
متن کامل0 Large Magellanic Cloud Planetary Nebula Morphology : Probing Stellar Populations and Evolution
Planetary Nebulae (PNe) in the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) offer the unique opportunity to study both the Population and evolution of lowand intermediate-mass stars, by means of the morphological type of the nebula. Using observations from our LMC PN morphological survey, and including images available in the HST Data Archive, and published chemical abundances, we find that asymmetry in PNe is...
